Passenger Lifts vs Goods Lifts - What's the Difference?
Passenger lifts and goods lifts are both types of elevators that serve different purposes. Passenger lifts are designed to transport people while goods lifts are used to move goods and materials. None of the types are designed for private homes where space is limited and where the look of the elevator is important.

Passenger Lifts
Passenger lifts are typically larger and have a higher carrying capacity than goods lifts. They also come equipped with a variety of safety features such as emergency stop buttons, alarms, and intercom systems to ensure the safety of passengers. Passenger lifts are often found in public buildings, multi-story residential buildings, and shopping centers where the traffic and usage is high. To be able to benefit from high speed (typically 2-10m/s) they follow the Lift Directive which sets out requirements for spacious safety space under the elevator and above the elevator. In general they require more space than is available in private homes, and they are also designed for much more traffic that is expected from a normal family.Goods Lifts
Goods lifts are designed for the transportation of goods and materials, such as heavy machinery, warehouse goods and packages. They are usually smaller and have a lower carrying capacity compared to passenger lifts. Goods lifts are commonly found in factories, warehouses, and delivery areas.
